Is this thing on? Here goes.

Mizzou alum Jordan Clarkson (2012-14), my favorite tattooed former Tiger, did something monumental in the Jazz’s 127-90 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday evening, coming off the bench and recording the teams’ first regular-season triple-double since 2008 (a stretch of 1,256 games) and the first for a bench player since February 5, 1983. Wow.

Here’s the moment he got his tenth rebound, the last part in securing the triple-double.

Clarkson’s 20 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds were the first triple-double of his career, which per ESPN, has spanned 685 regular season games (728 overall). JC has seamlessly moved between many roles in his time with the Jazz, from scorer to facilitator, alternating between being a starter and a bench player for the team he’s been with since 2019. Since returning from injury right before Christmas, he has been playing a key role off the bench and doing whatever has been needed by the team. I just love Jordan Clarkson, you guys.

Per coach Will Hardy, on the former Sixth Man of the Year:

“He’s adapted to a new role and he’s really trying to expand how he contributes to winning,” Jazz coach Will Hardy said. “It’s not just about scoring points. If I could have picked somebody on our team right now to break the streak, it would have been Jordan.”

On what the honor meant to him, here’s what he told Sarah Todd of the Deseret News:

“It meant a lot, honestly,” Clarkson said after the game. “Seeing all the teams and guys (that have been here), it’s crazy. I played with Carlos Boozer, and it was his old record and it just felt good. This was a very cool little milestone to put on my list.”

Congrats, JC. ALWAYS rooting for you!

Newsy Stuff

No. 1 Missouri Tigers: Given where Missouri was this time last year, the vibes are better in Eli Drinkwitz’s program than anywhere else in the new 16-team league. In one year, Mizzou went from middling team that will be dwarfed in the new SEC to much-respected program that will be on the radar for the Playoff next year. Quarterback Brady Cook is back, receiver Luther Burden is back, so many are back from a team that gave Georgia is toughest game in the regular season, beat Ohio State, and has a manageable schedule next year.
