Missouri Tigers Recruiting: Larry Rountree commits to the Zou

Missouri’s 2017 class is up to 18 pledges.

Larry Rountree HUDL

Larry Rountree - note the spelling - is a 5’11, 200 pound running back from Millbrook HS in Raleigh, North Carolina. We first mentioned Rountree back in June when the Tigers first offered, and RB coach Cornell Ford had an in-home visit with him last Thursday.

On Monday, Barry Odom said that he expects to have a sign a full 25 man class this coming February. If that’s true, Larry Rountree’s commitment means there are fewer open spots than weeks left until National Signing Day.

Watching his film reveals a sturdy ball-carrier who attacks the hole, has the ability to make sudden cutbacks and appears to play in an offensive scheme comparable to the one Missouri runs. Included in his highlights are even some examples of him as a lead blocker on quarterback runs as well as in pass protection.

Rountree is the first running back commit in the 2017 class. Currently he’s unranked by 247 but Rivals has him as a 3 star prospect. His only other Power 5 offer is from Boston College but he holds an offer from Appalachian State.

Welcome to the Zou Larry!
