A four-star wide receiver out of Jacksonville (Fla.), the 6'0, 192-pound graduate transfer originally commited to Alabama back in August 2011 and was in the same recruiting class as Dorial Green-Beckham and Amari Cooper.
Black was a redshirting freshman in 2012 when the Crimson Tide won national title, and was he a junior on the team that just won the second College Football Playoff National Championship.

Black's Alabama career started with misfortune with a season-ending shoulder injury in fall camp of his freshman year in 2012. After redshirting, he spent two seasons as a rotation player behind the likes of Amari Cooper, Christion Jones and DeAndrew White. Black never really broke into the rotation this season due to the emergence of Calvin Ridley and ArDarius Stewart, and his season was ended by ankle surgery in mid-November.
Four year old HUDL film isn't too informative but you can check some of it out here:
The last four-star receiver transfer Missouri landed was Darius White out of Texas back in 2012, although that was a bit of a different situation with White having to sit and practice with the scout team. Black is already enrolled at Mizzou and expected to be eligible immediately, and he will likely have a shot at starting from day one.
Mizzou's wide receiving corps, broken down by class, looks like this. Dominic Collins, JUCO WR who committed last week, has already been included:
Pos | Seniors | Juniors | Sophomores | Freshman | Class of 2016 | Tot |
WR | Chris Black 6'0 190 | J'Mon Moore (RS) 6'3 190 | DeSean Blair (RS) 6'3 190 | Richaud Floyd 5'11 165 | 12

Dominic Collins 6'3 175 | Emanuel Hall 6'3 196 | John Johnson (RS) 5'8 174
Cam Hilton 6'0 180 | ||||||
Ray Wingo 5'11 175 | ||||||
I believe the addition of Chris Black will allow Cam Hilton to move back to safety to balance out the position groups.
