Previous Posts October 5: DeMarkus Acy commits to Missouri over Oklahoma, Texas, and Arizona State

From Acy's commitment post:

Acy's a pretty interesting prospect in that his recruiting ratings aren't amazing -- low-three stars via Rivals, mid-three via the 247Sports Composite -- but his offer list is stellar: Per Rivals he listed offers from Arizona State and a majority of the Big 12: Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech. Granted, we don't know how committable those offers were, or if he was a backup plan of sorts at some of those schools, but on its face, that's a pretty impressive list. [...]

I'm assuming part of his middling recruiting rankings come simply from the fact that he's a 170-pound safety. Weight probably won't be much of a problem after he spends a year with Pat Ivey, but if he can get up into the 190- or 195-pound range, he could work out pretty well. Because if there's one thing his highlight film tells us, it's that he likes to hit.

ESPN:

We see a defensive safety capable of playing zone and man coverage; doesn't get beat deep, showing range to the outside; is effective breaking on balls thrown to the inside and underneath. Can leap to make high point interception and pass break up plays; displays the mirror/tight turn athleticism needed to cover inside receivers.
