A linebacker from the heart of SEC territority, Brooks looks like a someone who plays with a chip on their shoulder. Per 247sports he had an impressive junior year:
168 total tackles with eight sacks, three interceptions, eight forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries while leading Bessemer City to a 8-5 record and a trip to the quarterfinals of the Class 6A playoffs. Brooks earned all-state honors as a sophomore as well.
Scout.com caught up with him in early June at the Sound Mind Soud Body camp in Atlanta:
A brief review of his film paints Brooks as a classic strongside linebacker in high school. Strong pursuit instincts, willing hitter but perhaps limited playing sideline-to-sideline or turning and running in coverage. He fits the mold of a Barry Odom linebacker who likes to attack the ball-carrier. He's the type of player I could see starting on special teams as a freshman much like Terez Hall.

Brooks' commitment is likely one of two at the linebacker position in an effort to replace departing seniors Michael Scherer and Donavin Newsom. You can check out the rest of our recruiting hot board below:
