After six commits in six days, things are finally starting to settle back down for Mizzou football rec—I’m sorry, what’s that? Coppell (Tex.) offensive lineman Mike Ruth just committed?
Extremely excited to announce my commitment to the University of Missouri! #ShowMe18 #MizzouMade pic.twitter.com/G7CMnJuSYu

Ruth is, first and foremost, a big dude. Mizzou added some serious size in bringing guys like Yasir Durant (6’7, 340) and Larry Borom (6’6, 340) to the table last year, and with still a year to go before he reports to campus, Ruth is listed at 6’7, 310. And I’m not going to lie: I laughed out loud multiple times while watching his highlight film. He’s real, real mean, at one point raising fist like a professional wrestler after a pancake block.
Ruth reported offers from Iowa State, Kansas State, Miami, and Vanderbilt, but Mizzou was on him pretty early in the process. He is listed as a mid-three-star prospect per the 247Sports Composite. He is the first of what will probably be four or five offensive line commits as Mizzou looks to replenish its stock for offensive line coach Glen Elarbee.
Perhaps more notably, he is the sixth Missouri commitment from the state of Texas in 2018, joining running back/slot man Jalen Knox, receivers Kam Scott and Danny Gray, and linebackers Chad Bailey and Cameron Wilkins. Barry Odom wanted to make a concerted effort to reestablish recruiting inroads in the Lone Star State. I’d say he’s doing it.
The only thing better than a big offensive lineman is a big, mean offensive lineman. WELCOME, MIKE.
