Less than two weeks after Barry Odom pulled off the recruiting heist of the year — for Missouri, at least — by landing the most coveted grad transfer in the country. On Tuesday night, Odom secured another big-time transfer who could take over at quarterback when Kelly Bryant graduates next year.

Welcome QB Shawn Robinson #MIZ #ShowMe19 https://t.co/4qTJ3zqtTt
We noted last week that Missouri had been pegged as the favorite to land Robinson, a 4-star recruit and U.S. Army All-American out of high school. He racked up 1,360 yards passing and 230 yards rushing at TCU in 2018, totaling 12 touchdowns before a shoulder injury sidelined him for the year. His transfer was reported just a few days after Bryant committed to Missouri.
What this means for the current quarterbacks on Missouri’s roster — Taylor Powell, Jack Lowary, Lindsey Scott Jr. — and Missouri’s two QB recruits — Connor Bazelak in 2019 and Brady Cook in 2020 — will likely be known in the near future. But this is a major victory for the Tigers right now. Robinson was a highly touted prospect out of high school and won the starting QB spot outright at TCU in only his sophomore year.
With a year to sit due to transfer rules, Robinson will be able to heal from his injuries, develop in Derek Dooley’s system and return with two years of eligibility left. Barry Odom has now reeled in two very high profile quarterbacks in the month of December, which may even help him in the hours leading up to the early signing period.
So here’s to you, Mr. Robinson! And welcome to Mizzou!
