Last week Maurice Massey announced a Final two of Missouri and Illinois.
It appeared fans of both schools were confident in landing Massey’s eventual commit. But on Friday, the 6’4, 185-pound Kirkwood (Mo.) product chose the team to the west.

(Nice shade, pulling a Mizzou shirt out of an Illinois backpack...)
Massey boasts a high-three star rating per the 247Sports Composite. He grades out as the No. 12 prospect in the state. He was briefly committed to Iowa State in the winter but quickly reopened his recruitment.
His highlight film is dynamite. It shows you all the clips you think you’d see for a speedy 6’4 receiver in the high school ranks (lots of long-striding by overwhelmed DBs), but it also shows a guy with quick feet who can do work in the screen game. It also shows a guy with some flair.
Massey is Mizzou’s 10th listed commitment for 2019 and the third from the state of Missouri. Mizzou is still in the mix for quite a few in-state guys, and it seems to be that re-making inroads in the state of Missouri will be the main theme of the 2019 haul. That’s a good thing — Illinois is trying to create the same thing with Lovie Smith. Smith hired Trinity Catholic’s Cory Patterson as a position coach and landed the state’s top prospect, Trinity’s QB/ATH Isaiah Williams. But Williams is still the only of the state’s top 15 to choose the Illini.
It’s been a busy week for Mizzou recruiting, and just as fall camp began, the Tigers scored one more commit. WELCOME, MAURICE. You should know that Mizzou fans have high expectations for Kirkwood receivers...
