For me, most football commitments come with a hint of excitement. It’s early and there’s a lot of promise, but traditionally Missouri has often proven themselves with a smattering of elite guys surrounded but longer term players who were under recruited and bought in.
It’s the smattering of elite guys who turn your head. It’s Sheldon Richardson or Blaine Gabbert. Drew Lock or Jeremy Maclin. One thing all those guys have in common, they were elite in-state players who chose to stay home. You can now add Antonio Doyle to that list, as the top 200 4-star linebacker from Lutheran North High School in St. Louis chose the Tigers over just about EVERYONE tonight.
I heard these boys talk English ,but they ain’t talking my language #MIZZOU @Glocck40 @MizzouFootball pic.twitter.com/cM3VwFPrJz

Doyle was hotly pursued by every major blue blood school and it didn’t matter because Barry Odom and his staff are putting in work in St. Louis and around the state. They’re getting guys to buy and buy in early.
This is a recruiting coup. Mizzou is getting the top player in Missouri and an elite defensive prospect from St. Louis. Welcome to the ZOU, Antonio!

Just got off the phone with @CoachReed314 who called Antonio Doyle MU’s biggest commit out of STL since Maclin or Sheldon Richardson. “I’ve always said Missouri is recruiting St. Louis really hard,” Reed said. “When you plant those seeds, you’re starting to see them sprout.”

It’s a big big get. Doyle is a top 200 player, and had offers all around the country. Barry Odom now has five of his seven commitments in the 2020 class from St. Louis.
