Jan. 8 update: It’s officially official! Montra Edwards announced his re-commitment to Missouri on his Twitter account Wednesday afternoon:

Edwards told Rivals’ Sean Williams that defensive line coach Brick Haley is “someone I really want to play for.” The Tigers were at the top of Edwards’ list even after he reopened his recruitment, and Haley being retained by Eliah Drinkwitz seems to have sealed the deal.
Jan. 6 update: Mizzou might have gotten good news in the way of a (re)commitment from Mississippi Defensive Lineman, and primary 2020 target, Montra Edwards. From his instagram post tonight:
There haven’t been any confirmed reports from any of the usual outlets, but that’s probably due to the unusualness of the “commitment”. But he’s updated his twitter bio, which is about as official as you can get, right?

Edwards was still being highly recruited by Defensive Line coach Brick Haley, who was retained by new head coach Eli Drinkwitz. Edwards had recently said he planned on visits to Arkansas, Missouri, and Maryland in the next three weeks. We don’t yet know if that will still be the case.
Obviously this is a big commitment for Missouri and Drinkwitz. Edwards is a highly rated 3-star prospect at a position of need. If there’s more, we’ll post it and talk about it. As of now though, it looks like Edwards will be a part of the class. A big win.
From the original post on August 13th: After a fairly quiet July and August for Mizzou Football’s recruiting class, things might be picking back up with the recent commitment of Robert Wooten out of Texas. Now the Tigers have gone deep into the heart of Mississippi to pluck a big defensive tackle out from under Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
Holmes County Central DT Montra Edwards committed to Missouri today. Holmes County Central is located in Lexington, MS, located about an hour north of Jackson.
Mizzou Football offered the 3-star lineman back in April, but most of the Crystal Ball predictions had been for the in-state programs. Neither were able to close and the Tigers were able to swoop in.
