Following his first season as head coach, Mizzou’s Eli Drinkwitz hinted that Missouri would be active in the transfer market as a method to bolster the depth of their roster.
The 2021 recruiting class is already a solid one, but there were likely to be several big names on the move after a rocky COVID-impacted season. And one of the biggest names, was Mookie Cooper. Cooper was a consensus 4-star Wide Receiver prospect from the St. Louis area who ultimately picked the Ohio State Buckeyes out of high school. But after one season in Columbus, were he sat behind OSU’s older NFL-bound Wide Receivers, he decided he would enter the transfer portal.
Queue Drinkwitz, and Wide Receivers coach Bush Hamdan... who swept in and continued to do what they’ve done since arriving in Columbia: Elevate Recruiting.

High School: Pattonville HS
Position: Wide Receiver
Ht/Wt: 5’10 / 190 lbs
Rivals Ranking: 4-star, 6.0, 58th Nationally
247Composite Ranking: 4-star, 0.9574, 93rd Nationally
Total announced offers: 33
Offers to note: Alabama, Ohio State, USC, Texas... I mean really you name it.
Cooper didn’t play his senior year after transferring from powerhouse Trinity Catholic to Pattonville. So above you’ll see the highlights from his Junior season. Bringing in a player who hasn’t played in live games in two years shouldn’t be of a concern however, as Ohio State was reportedly very high on Cooper and did not want him to transfer.
What they’re saying:
Mookie Cooper will be transferring from @OhioStAthletics to @MizzouFootball. Danny Heitert had him as the 2nd best player in the state last year. Cooper and Dominic Lovett change the wide receiver position for the Tigers. @ksdknews

Mookie Cooper is a SPECIAL talent one of the most game changing players I’ve seen come through STL in years. Mizzou is getting a dynamic offensive threat he can line up at SLOT, RB or outside and be a mismatch problem at all times. Drink has player he can play all over!!
