BREAKING: First Depth Chart of 2020

Slip on something comfy...for the first time in 2020 we’re going deep into some charts, baby

For most of fall camp Coach Drinkwitz has been super cagey about sharing any info about who the starting quarterback was going to be in game one, let alone the rest of the roster.

Today, he felt like sharing.

BEHOLD! THE FIRST DEPTH CHART IS UPON US!

2020 Week 1 Starters

As per Dave Matter, here’s the full “OR”d out depth chart:

Offense

Quarterback

Connor Bazelak OR Shawn Robinson

Running Back

Larry Rountree III OR Tyler Badie

Wide Receiver

Damon Hazelton, Keke Chism, Jalen Knox

Tight End

Daniel Parker OR Niko Hea OR Logan Christopherson

Left Tackle

Zeke Powell OR Bobby Lawrence

Left Guard

Xavier Delgado

Center

Michael Maietti

Right Guard

Case Cook

Right Tackle

Larry Borom

Defense

Defensive End

Tre Williams

Nose Tackle

Markell Utsey

Defensive Tackle

Kobie Whiteside

Defensive End

Chris Turner OR Isaiah McGuire

Weakside Linebacker

Nick Bolton

Middle Linebacker

Devin Nicholson

Cornerback

Jarvis Ware, Ennis Rakestraw

Safety

Joshuah Bledsoe, Tyree Gillespie, Martez Manuel

Special Teams

Kicker

Harrison Mevis

Punter

Grant McKinnis

Returners

Tyler Badie, Kris Abrams-Draine

My brief takeaways:

  • Hell yes, Ennis Rakestraw
  • Zeke Powell starting? Yikes.
  • DPJ must still be injured

If you’re savvy on your social media, you’ll notice several of the guys listed here who are definitely not playing on Saturday due to quarantine but that’s not the point. This whole season will be a musical chairs of names and positions on the chart just to field enough dudes to play, so “official” depth charts are about as useful as a poopy-flavored lollipop. But at least we have an idea of who the Drinkwitz crew wants to field and now we get to see how these guys perform against one of the best teams, and coaches, in the entire history of college football.
