Texas S Robert Barnes picks up Mizzou offer

Robert Barnes is a 6'2", 190 lb safety from Southlake, Texas.

Rivals: 4*247: 4*Scout: 4*

Barnes was first offered by Oregon State in late April.  The talented safety followed that up with offers from Nebraska, Duke, Boston College, Iowa, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Alabama, Baylor, and Texas, before committing to Oklahoma on September 7.  Barnes has since picked up more big offers from Ohio State, Colorado, Notre Dame, and Missouri.

Of course Oklahoma is the favorite to land Barnes, but the Sooners do have some competition from the in-state Bears.  247Sports believes Barnes could go either way at this point and potentially flip to Baylor.  According to 247Sports, Barnes took an unofficial visit to Baylor on November 14, nearly two months after committing to OU.  That visit however, might have just been to see Oklahoma come in to Waco and beat up on the Bears in their yearly meeting.  The Sooners should be able to hold on to Barnes.

Check out Barnes' highlights on YouTube.

It appears that Barnes is being recruited by Ryan Walters, Barry Odom, and Joe Jon Finley.  Keep in mind Joe Jon Finley just came from Baylor and Barnes had taken multiple visits while Finley was still on the staff in Waco.  Finley had also played for Oklahoma just a matter of years ago.  If anyone on the Missouri coaching staff could relate to Barnes and potentially flip the talented safety, Finley would be the man to do just that.
