4 days to Vandy
Post-Dispatch: Early preview: Missouri vs. Vanderbilt
The Trib (David Morrison): Gary Pinkel Speaks: Vanderbilt week
Defensive line good
PowerMizzou: Tuesday's Top Tigers: UGA
1. Charles Harris, DE. This is going to be a defense-heavy list, and there are plenty of candidates worthy, but let's go with Harris, who had nine tackles and a sack, and rarely left the field.
Offensive line bad
The Trib: Tigers ponder O-line changes as offensive woes continue
Ricker said he has some ideas for lineups, and the evaluation process starts at Tuesday’s practice.
"Something needs to change. We need to do something different," senior Connor McGovern said. "Clearly, what we’re doing right now isn’t working."
McGovern would be a logical candidate to move back inside from left tackle to right guard, where he started most of the past two seasons. Ricker said that was a possibility.
PowerMizzou: Change is gonna come
Post-Dispatch: Tiger Takeaways: What's wrong with the O-line?
"It goes back to coaching and instilling in these guys’ minds that technique is going to get you out of this," [Ricker] said. "And confidence, too. I keep drilling in these guys that you can’t play offensive line and go up there (thinking), oh, man, am I going to be able to block this guy? What if this guy does that? You just can’t do it. Like I told them last week, you’ve got to go up there and think you’re the best right guard or right tackle in the country. That’s how you have to play no matter what happens."
"It’d be a different story if we were losing the line of scrimmage and getting pushed around out there," he added. "That’s not our issue. It’s consistently staying on (defenders). It’s moving our feet. It’s technique. It’s playing with confidence."
