5 Mizzou things for July 4

Jabari Brown, Jordan Clarkson, and Phil Pressey gear up for NBA Summer League, Barry Odom is a head coach in the making, and Mizzou's SEC Network Takeover schedule is up.

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Here are five quick Mizzou things for you before you enjoy your day in the sun (or wherever):

1. Emily Crane is a Very Important Tiger

So says Blake Toppmeyer.

Crane is somewhat quietly becoming one of the best hitters in Missouri history. She’s MU’s all-time career leader with a .454 on-base percentage, and her .375 career batting average ranks third in program history. Her career stolen-base success rate is a remarkable 93.5 percent. She’s also a clutch performer, with a .429 career batting average in NCAA Tournament games.

2. Barry Odom is a future head coach

So says Chris Vannini.

Barry Odom: (Missouri - defensive coordinator / linebackers coach): Odom spent nine years at Missouri in various roles such as director of recruiting, director of football operations, and safeties coach before making a splash as the defensive coordinator at Memphis from 2012-2014. Odom’s experience in multiple roles is beneficial to his ability to grasp the big picture, an important factor and point of consideration for athletic directors in the hiring process for a new head coach.  While at Memphis, Odom served an integral role in the best turnaround in college football over the last three seasons which led to multiple job offers in the offseason.  Odom chose to return to Missouri as the defensive coordinator. With another successful season in 2015, Memphis coach Justin Fuente will likely have an opportunity to lead a Power-5 program, and Odom may have an opportunity to return to Memphis as the head coach.

3. Jabari Brown and Jordan Clarkson are Summer League Lakers

So says the L.A. Times. Holy smokes, this is actually a really fun, young Lakers team here.

Current players and draft picks on the squad include guards D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson and Jabari Brown, guard/forward Anthony Brown, forwards Julius Randle and Larry Nance Jr. and center Tarik Black.

4. Phil Pressey is a Summer League Celtic ... probably

His status is a bit up in the air, per MassLive.

Trades are always a possibility, but the team will need to make a decision on Pressey's $947,276 deal by July 15, the trigger date for the contract to become guaranteed for the entire season.

"It's a concern to me," he admitted. "But it's out of my hands, so you've just gotta control what you can control and let those things kind of fall into play. I was in the same position last year, so it's nothing new to me. Just gotta keep going and keep controlling things I can control."

Pressey jumped into practice Friday on the third day of training camp, three days prior to the summer league opener in Utah. The Celtics will also compete in the Las Vegas summer league later this month.

5. The Mizzou Takeover schedule is up

We'll have more about this on Monday, but here's the list:

Happy Fourth, everybody. What are you up to today?
