PM: Obviously, Bob Diaco cut his teeth as a defensive coordinator, must recently at Notre Dame, before arriving at UConn. Even though he has Anthony Poindexter as a DC, how much of this is still Diaco's defense - and what are the hallmarks of that defense?
TF: Diaco still has a lot of influence in the defense, I believe, but he has a lot of faith in the coaches he has brought in. For as rough as UConn has had it in recent years, the defense has remained successful. The strength of the front seven has always allowed UConn to put significant pressure on the opposing quarterback. ... A defensive player to watch is Graham Stewart. The senior linebacker is somewhat of a high school football legend in Connecticut, having starred at local powerhouse Xavier High School. When he transferred to UConn from Florida, it was cause for celebration. He is a monster. Running up the middle is a bad idea against the Huskies.
Sophomore Harris stands out on Mizzou D-line : Sports
In Saturday’s 27-20 win at Arkansas State, Harris eclipsed many of the former stars who played along MU’s front four: His 4.5 tackles for loss were the most by a Mizzou defensive lineman since Stryker Sulak had five against Illinois in 2008. Of all the pass-rush specialists to come through the program since then — Kony Ealy, Michael Sam, Markus Golden, in addition to the first-rounders mentioned earlier — none inflicted that much backfield damage in one game.
That barely registered with Harris, who started one game last year and didn’t play his first season of organized football until his junior year at Lincoln Prep in Kansas City.
"I’m not all that familiar with football in terms of the numbers and stuff," he said. "People are saying those are great numbers, and I’m like. ‘Oh, really? OK’"

Max Scherzer – Pitcher – Washington Nationals
Scherzer has dominated this season on the Nationals squad, posting a 12-11 record with a 2.91 ERA and 231 strikeouts. He's been Washington's workhorse throughout the year, tossing at least six innings in 26 of 29 contests. The St. Louis native was at his best in late June when he threw two consecutive shutouts and notched his first career no-hitter.
Kyle Gibson – Pitcher – Minnesota Twins
A third-year professional, Gibson has put together his best season yet with a 10-10 record and a 3.71 ERA over 29 starts with Minnesota. He's helped lead a surprising Twins team that is trying to chase down a playoff berth for the first time since 2010. Most recently, he tossed 7.2 shutout innings, allowing just five hits and a walk against seven strikeouts in a 7-0 win over the White Sox.

A golden anniversary for the Golden Girls
MUtigers.com: Golden Anniversary
In fall 2015, the Golden Girls dance squad celebrates 50 seasons at the center of it all. What began in 1965 as a troupe of seven sequined baton twirlers has grown into a nationally recognized and frequently televised dance team of 30-plus.
Although the gilded uniforms and thousand-kilowatt smiles have been present since the inaugural season, nearly every other aspect of the iconic squad has evolved.
