Maty Mauk, Malik Cuellar suspended for game against South Carolina

Drew Lock will start for Mizzou vs South Carolina

Just yesterday the Mizzou media was informed that Tuesday's practice session would be closed to the media for unspecified reasons.

MEDIA BAN: Missouri will no longer open the beginning of its Tuesday practice sessions to reporters, team spokesman Chad Moller announced in an email Monday.

In-season Tuesday practices had been open for approximately the first 45 minutes each week, a period of time taken up by warm-ups, stretching and some positional drills. Reporters in attendance were not permitted to report on any of the content they observed.

In the email, Moller wrote the team decided to close off Tuesday practices "due to a general lack of interest … and also for the best competitive interests of the football program."

Mizzou suspended junior quarterback Maty Mauk and roommate junior offensive lineman Malik Cuellar for "disciplinary reasons related to violation of team policies." per the official Mizzou press release. I am still attempting to find out the reason behind the suspensions.

Maty Mauk was out of town yesterday for Mizzou's media Monday as he was visiting his father who underwent surgery for colorectal cancer. Maty Mauk was 57/110 for 654 yards, 6 touchdowns against 4 interceptions through four games this year. Malik Cuellar is the backup LT behind Connor McGovern and had not seen significant playing time yet.

Drew Lock will start vs South Carolina.
